COVID-19 Updates 2020

Camp Update May 18, 2020:  A warm hello to campers, staff, friends and sponsors.  Hopefully you are able to safely get outside in your neighborhood for fresh air and exercise to erase the effects of cabin fever while you self-quarantine at home.  Perhaps you would be willing to share the creative ways you have been keeping fit both mentally and physically these past couple of months.  Just shoot us an email with your tips and include a photo or short video to [email protected]  We will publish a few of your ideas on our Facebook page.

As promised we are providing you with a summer ski camp COVID update.  We appreciate your flexibility, patience and understanding as we evolve and adapt to our new world.  On May 15th, the State of Oregon announced their guidance for summer camps.  You will find a good summary of these new guidelines here:   https://www.oregonlive.com/coronavirus/2020/05/oregon-prohibits-overnight-summer-camps-allows-day-camps-under-new-guidelines.html

https://www.timberlinelodge.com/coronavirus-updates    Please familiarize yourself with these requirements.  Timberline is expected to issue their summer ski camp protocols soon.  Once we have received these guidelines we will let you know if further adjustments are necessary.

If you would like to register please either call Camp Director Miguel Azcarate at (716) 378-7509 or email us at  [email protected]

Camp Update March 24, 2020:  Because what we know about COVID-19 is rapidly changing we are depending on the expert advice of the CDC, the WHO and Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of NIAID.  Like you we are following their recommendations by staying at home, practicing social distancing, covering our faces when we have to go out and washing our hands.  Currently all recreational sites in the Mt Hood National Forest and many businesses in Government Camp are closed.

A Stay at Home Order was issued by Oregon’s Governor Brown on March 23rd, and she is working with her counterparts in Washington and California to establish a coordinated plan to safely reopen these west coast states.  Right now we do not know the timing of the reopening of Mt Hood for skiing and other recreational activities.

While we are anticipating and hoping our summer camp will be able to proceed as planned, if we need to make changes to our program to ensure the health and safety of our camp community we will inform you as soon as possible.  Please check our Facebook page or website for announcements of changes or updates.

As always we are recommending you purchase travel insurance. All travel insurance policies do not offer the same coverage.  Please check to see that the insurance you are purchasing offers “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage.  You may want to check out Global Rescue, Ripcord or Travel Guard to see if they can provide you with a policy that will meet your needs.

Warm wishes for your good health and safety.
